Evalina Rose and her little sister Posy Anna are the main characters of a series of children's stories that I am writing. In this blog I will share the final stages of crafting their half scale house--Honeysuckle Cottage--and the miniature stuff that will make up the settings of their stories.

Editor's Page

Thank you for visiting my Editor's page, and welcome.

This blog was started to promote the character Evalina Rose.
My proposal is to write a series of first readers using my miniature dolls and hand painted settings.  I am still in the process of making all of the settings, but am ready to outline and design my first story.

I also believe that Evalina and the other characters will make a beautiful series of cards and other printed items.  She is a very commercially viable little lady.

I sculpted all of my dolls out of porcelain, and then china painted them.  I hand knit all of the clothing and bears on tiny lace needles out of fine hand sewing threads.

Evalina's name is a combination of my grandmother Eve and her mother Rose. There was already a blog named  Evelina Rose when I created this blog, so I had to miss-spell the name in order to use the name in my  blog address.   I have been blogging for less than a year.  My blog has sometimes swayed from its original  course, so try to ignore anything that does not relate to the story line.
When I first started this project I was using a Nikarmat camera and film. I had a great lens. The original of this photograph was very clear, but this image was scanned and emailed to me, so it has lost a lot of detail.  I am now using a digital camera, and my images are not as nice.  I am not a professional photographer, graphic artist or blogger, but I have a pretty good eye for design and I know how I want my pictures to look   A professional photographer could make very clear images of  Evalina and her settings.
Posy Anna is Evalina's five-year-old sister.  She is 15/8 inches tall.
Evalina Rose is ten years old (she is 2 1/8 inches tall).
My eight years old daughter thinks that ten year old girls are very grown up.  I think ten is a good age for a main character.  I painted the wall paper in the background for the bed room of Evalina's house.

Humble is about 1 3/4 inches tall.  I have not decided if he will be humble or if he will be rather haughty. His side kick, Pie will buffer  his behavior and pie's personality will depend on Humble's.

Hugo is still in the process of  being dressed, and I do not have a clear personality developed for him. He looks to be about six years old.  the little girl above is Lilia Lucia, named after my other grandmother.  She is Evalina's cousin and will be supporting character.
A group photo.  The mouse is not a character in my stories.
Honeysuckle Cottage is Evalina and Posy's house.  It is considered a half scale miniature. It is not meant to be realistic   Many miniaturist strive for realism, but I want charm.  My dolls and their world are supposed to be charming, and help children feel safe.  I have not decided  if  the human world will figure into the stories, or if the dolls will represent humans, or if the dolls will be dolls????

Evalina's bed and her doll Nell.
After I finish the interior, I will get to work on the garden...the dolls will need a place to have tea. This is a removable rose trellis for the door way.  I want to be able to change the garden for different seasons.

Honeysuckle Cottage will get a grey "slate" roof.  The sides of the house are made to look like stone.
